What is Path of Exile 2 Ping Test?

Test your ping to all Path of Exile 2 server gateways and find the best connection for responsive gameplay. This free PoE 2 ping checker measures real-time latency to all Grinding Gear Games server locations. In Path of Exile 2, ping is critical because the game features fast-paced real-time combat where dodge-rolling through enemy attacks requires precise timing.

Anything below 70ms is excellent, 70-100ms is playable but slightly delayed, above 120ms movements and attacks become noticeably slower, and exceeding 150ms makes real-time dodging almost impossible against endgame bosses. The game offers gateways in 11 locations: Washington DC, Texas, California (NA), Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London (EU), Singapore, Japan (Asia), Australia (OCE), Sao Paulo (SA), and South Africa. Unlike some games, PoE 2 lets you freely switch gateways from the login screen without any character restrictions — your characters are accessible from any gateway.

Path of Exile 2 launched in Early Access with massive demand, and server load during league launches can temporarily increase latency even on nearby gateways. The game's new dodge-roll mechanic makes it fundamentally more ping-dependent than its predecessor — where PoE 1 relied on flask piano and passive damage reduction, PoE 2 requires active dodging that demands responsive server communication.

How to Use

  1. 1Open the PoE 2 Ping Test — it automatically tests all server gateways
  2. 2Wait while latency is measured to each of the 11 gateway locations
  3. 3Review results sorted by ping: green (under 70ms — excellent for endgame), yellow (70-120ms — playable), red (over 120ms — dodging becomes difficult)
  4. 4Choose the gateway with the lowest ping — you can switch freely in the login screen
  5. 5Test periodically as gateway performance can vary with server load during league launches

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good ping for Path of Exile 2?
For PoE 2, under 50ms is excellent — all mechanics are perfectly responsive. 50-70ms is very good for all content including endgame bosses. 70-100ms is playable but you may notice slight delay in dodge-roll timing. 100-150ms makes endgame content significantly harder as dodge windows become very tight. Over 150ms makes reaction-based dodging nearly impossible against fast boss attacks. PoE 2 is more ping-sensitive than PoE 1 because of the new dodge-roll mechanic.
How do I change gateway in Path of Exile 2?
On the login screen, look for the gateway dropdown menu at the bottom. Click it to see all available server locations with their current ping. You can select any gateway — your characters are not locked to a region. There is also an Auto Select option that picks the lowest-ping gateway automatically. You can switch gateways at any time by logging out and selecting a different one.
Why is my PoE 2 ping high?
Common causes: geographic distance to the selected gateway, ISP routing inefficiency, Wi-Fi interference, network congestion during league launches and major patches (servers get very busy), other devices consuming bandwidth, and VPN adding extra routing hops. During league starts, even nearby gateways can experience high latency due to server load. Try switching to a less popular gateway in the same region if available.
Does ping affect damage and loot in PoE 2?
Ping does not affect damage calculations or loot drops — those are server-side. However, ping affects how responsive your character feels: skill activation delay, dodge-roll timing, flask usage, and movement. High ping can cause you to take damage from attacks you thought you dodged, fail to activate defensive skills in time, and make the game feel sluggish overall. For hardcore mode where death is permanent, low ping is especially critical.
Which PoE 2 gateway should I use?
Use the gateway with the lowest ping from this test. For most players: East Coast NA uses Washington DC, Central/West NA uses Texas or California, Western Europe uses Amsterdam or London, Central Europe uses Frankfurt, Southeast Asia uses Singapore, and Oceania uses Australia. The Auto Select feature usually picks correctly, but during high-load periods (league launches), manually selecting a less congested gateway in your region can provide better performance.
Does PoE 2 ping matter for trading and party play?
For trading, ping has minimal impact — trade interactions are simple server operations. However, for party play (group mapping, boss carries, co-op content), ping significantly affects your experience. High ping causes your character to rubberband, skills to activate late, and you may take damage from attacks you dodged on your screen. In hardcore mode parties, one death from lag means permanent character loss. If you party frequently, test your ping to ensure it stays below 100ms for reliable gameplay.
